Update (14-May-2023)

Hi All,

Just want to give you a quick update.

Last week, I planned to do two things. One is to wrap up some coding stuff around the sleazy female officer's new morning scene events. This is stuff like how much morale is lost, or updating the counters for how many times various things happened to the character or with the NPC or at that station. The other thing I planned to do was test out the new events I added. The coding stuff has been completed, but the testing itself is taking a while.

Therefore, I will continue to do the tests next week. Then whenever that's done, I'll start writing the evening event text.

Off Topic

I've also been playing a ton of indie non-H games, lately. Here are a few that have free demos, that I've tried out recently. If you have a similar taste in games as I do, then you might enjoy these as well.

Above Snakes - This is like a top-down survival / building game, with a neat map concept. Basically, you start on a map tile, and you can lay down other map tiles around you, so you literally configure the terrain around you. Each tile will have a different biome or different sets of biomes, and their edges have to match up. It really scratches my resource management and procedural generation itch for me. Plus, I think the main protagonist lady is really cute. The demo is free, and the game is coming out near the end of May.

Shattered Heaven - This is a deck-builder game, kind of like Slay The Spire. It has a more serious anime art style. The story is a bit edgy and mopey, so I'm not too into that. But to be frank, the main character totally feeds my muscle mommy cravings. :| The gameplay feels engaging, too. The animations are a bit basic, but honestly, not too different from Darkest Dungeon. This one also has a free demo, and the game is coming out early June.

Laysara Summit Kingdom - This is a Himalayas inspired city builder, that focuses on building around a mountain. It's not super complicated, but I enjoyed the resource management aspect of the game. Also, I think Yaks are pretty cool. The music and the art style were pretty nice, too. Again, there is a free demo, but I'm not too sure when it comes out. It just says 2023.

Against The Storm - I actually own this one, but it does have a free demo, too. This is one of those games that I would give a 10 / 10. The reason is because I just can't think of a way to make it better. It's a rogue-lite town builder resource management game. There's 3 things that really stand out for me. First, unlike many sandbox games, there's a really sense of a destination you are trying to work towards, and you can usually get there in about an hour. You set up a village, and once that is done, you move on to the next randomized village, with a new set of challenges and perks. Second, the variety of buildings and production really hooks me. Each village won't have access to all buildings, and they won't have every kind of resource around them. Each building can usually make around 3 different things, with a variety of different possible input resources. That mixing and matching and adapting is really fun, even after the 100th village for me. Lastly, I just think they did a great job with the lore, aesthetic, and music of the game. It's really moody, in a good way. It has this "dark fairy tale rain-punk" vibe that really works for me.

Okay, that's all! Have a great week! Cheers!
