Harem of Commander - Version 1.0 release

Hi all!

I’ve released version 1.0 of Harem of Commander. I initially planned to call it version 0.2, but then I realized it had pretty much everything I planned for this game. I also wanted to add a “deck builder” style game, but maybe I’ll make that as its own game, at another time. I think Harem of Commander turned out to be a really fun concept to make. It’s something I’d like to do again someday, maybe with a more focused and less generic storyline, characters, and setting.

Now, I plan to return to working on Delivery Pilot. I drafted some scene ideas for the sleazy female officers in that game. She’s going to be a bit of a social bunny of her own, and her story arc will involve her gradually bringing the protagonist into her hedonistic lifestyle. But before I go too deep into implementation, I’ll spend some time replaying the game and reviewing the code. Honestly, I forgot a bunch of stuff over the break, so I need to take some time to refamiliarize myself. But direction-wise, I think I have some good office and nighttime ideas for this officer type.

Patch notes for Harem of Commander 1.0:

  1. Added keyboard controls, and letters displayed on buttons in-game.
  2. Added visibility on tables and dice rolls. This is off by default but can be turned on in settings.
  3. Added panel to show history for a specific hero. This shows what she did each day.
  4. Added tracking for when a hero first performed certain activities, and which heroes first performed certain activities.
  5. Added the ability to name the commander (optional).
  6. Added random name generation for heroes, where the random names are specified by the player.
  7. Added random description generation for the heroes.
  8.  Added the ability to trim the archive, instead of deleting it completely. This might help keep the saved files small.
  9. Added a bunch of UI related adjustments, such as showing the player how much and which affinity the hero gained, and adding a confirmation screen before deleting the archive.
  10. Added the ability to change a turn’s label from “Day” to “Week”, “Cycle”, “Battle”, or “Trip”, whichever is most appropriate for your games.
  11. Fixed some bugs.
